Air Force Information Operations Battlelab Selects the Fidelis Extrusion Prevention System® as a Project for Operational Security
AFIOB Demonstrates Fidelis XPSTM Ability to Monitor and Prevent Potential Data Leakage Violations

BETHESDA, MD - February 20, 2007 - Fidelis Security Systems, the authority on extrusion prevention, today announced that the Air Force Information Operations Battlelab (AFIOB) has selected the Fidelis Extrusion Prevention System®, Fidelis XPSTM, as a project for Operational Security (OPSEC). Fidelis XPS is an extrusion prevention system that performs real-time monitoring of computer network traffic and can prevent the unauthorized transfer of designated sensitive or valuable information.

AFIOB conducted a demonstration at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska to determine the military utility of the system. The demonstration showed that Fidelis XPS is a viable solution to the need for enhanced operational security and has great potential for assisting base communication personnel enforce security policy. AFIOB is now working to transition this capability to Air Force Information Operations.

The mission of the AFIOB is to rapidly identify innovative and superior material or non-material ways to plan and employ information operations capabilities, to organize and train forces for information operations, and to influence Information Operations doctrine and tactics in order to meet current and emerging missions. The AFIOB conducted demonstrations to show how Fidelis XPS can be used by Air Force computer systems to monitor and protect Privacy Act information and HIPAA data, enforce Acceptable Use Policies and maintain operational security information. The system was reviewed for operational value, technological risk, breadth of application, time for completion and if it is a match to current Air Force needs and requirements. AFIOB also contracted Sandia National Labs to perform aggressive penetration testing as part of the overall evaluation.

"We are extremely pleased that Fidelis XPS met the strict requirements of the AFIOB and proved the breadth and depth of its capabilities," said Timothy Sullivan, CEO of Fidelis Security Systems. "Fidelis XPS is the only product architected for complete prevention, regardless of port or protocol. Moreover, we give our customers very granular controls. They can monitor or prevent traffic based on channels, attachments, file types or content and do so on a policy-by-policy basis. As such, we believe it gives us an edge in demonstrating our applicability and suitability to the needs of our military and other Federal Agencies for extrusion prevention."
