Fidelis XPSTM Provides Additional Content and Application Controls in Latest Release of Award-Winning Data Leakage Prevention Solution

Fidelis Security Systems' Customers Enjoy True Global Coverage with Industry-Leading Native Language Support

WALTHAM, MA & BETHESDA, MD - October 6, 2009 - Fidelis Security Systems, the leader in next-generation data leakage prevention (DLP) solutions, today announced the latest version of the Fidelis Extrusion Prevention System®, Fidelis XPSTM, which provides an enterprise the ability to gain deeper knowledge of both the content and the applications running on their networks-giving organizations greater power to safeguard their sensitive and protected information from the harmful effects of data leakage.

The latest release of the award-winning Fidelis XPS includes the following features:

  • Skype Decoder - Fidelis XPS helps to mitigate the risk of data leakage over Skype by detecting transfers using this peer-to-peer protocol, whether voice, video or data, and alerting on the presence of this type of traffic. Like social networking applications, Skype's use is expanding beyond personal computers and into the workplace and has been designed to evade traditional network security devices such as proxies and firewalls.  Whether being used in a business context, or accessed by employees using corporate computing resources, the Skype protocol is yet another channel that presents a potential risk for data leakage and violations of corporate acceptable use policies.
  • Keyword Synonyms Dictionary - The Fidelis XPS keyword analyzer now includes the ability to detect potential violations based on an expanded keyword list that is derived from synonyms of the keywords defined in the customer's policies.  Thus, the analyzer is now able to detect keywords in traffic that are similar in meaning to the keywords explicitly defined in content policies.   The use of keywords-combined with their synonyms-can lead to more robust and thorough detection of potentially sensitive information.
  • Fidelis XPS Direct Database Decoders - Adding an additional level of visibility and control to an enterprise's network perimeter, the company's flagship solution, the Fidelis XPS Direct sensor now includes database decoders to address a growing critical component to an organization's functionality-the need for database access across the perimeter to exchange information with trading partners and outsourcing providers.  Available for the last several years exclusively in the company's Fidelis XPS Internal sensor, Fidelis again illustrates its leadership in visibility and control as the only DLP solution to decode database traffic at the network perimeter, providing an additional layer of defense-in-depth for the secure exchange of information with trusted outsiders.

"By giving enterprises the ability to go deeper into the applications running on their network and thoroughly analyzing the content itself, an organization has the critical components necessary to manage the information flowing on their network and in turn protect their most valued information from the damage of data leakage," said Peter George, President and CEO, Fidelis Security Systems.  "Our next-generation data leakage prevention solution, Fidelis XPS, is once again leading the industry with the kind of cutting-edge enhancements that gives our global customers the visibility into and control of their network information."

Building upon the solution's already robust global language support, this version of Fidelis XPS provides the most extensive coverage for global character sets, allowing enterprises to achieve comprehensive data protection in their global deployments in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Fidelis XPS provides native Unicode support (UTF-8, UTF-16, and UTF-32) for any language in all document formats.  Additionally, Fidelis XPS supports detection and prevention without restriction, using all fifteen of the character sets enumerated in ISO/IEC 8859 as well as dozens of additional legacy single and double byte code pages used in Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Thai, and Japanese languages.
